Dr. Santosh Hemchandra graduated with a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in April 2009 under the supervision of Prof. Tim Lieuwen.  Since February 2012, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India.  He also holds a visiting fellowship at the Institute of Aerodynamics at RWTH Aachen in Germany where he was a Post-doctoral researcher 2009 – 2012.

Dr. Hemchandra’s work focuses on understanding the fundamental physics of the kinematics of premixed flame fronts in acoustically forced turbulent flows.  He has also made contributions to several other studies that elucidate the fundamental physics control of premixed flame response to perturbations in mixture composition and flow velocity. During his post-doc at RWTH Aachen, he helped supervise and direct ongoing work on understanding thermoacoustic instability withing the framework of the SFB686 collaborative research center.  Dr. Hemchandra earned his B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras in 2004 and an M. S. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2007.
